The picture of the week #4 is celebrating the colors of autumn. I chose a leaf in the transition from green to red. The colors and the structure of the leaf really pop when lit from behind.
By rotating the leaf approximately 20 degrees from being perpendicular to the light, the stems in the leaf get accentuated by their shadows. This makes the picture look way more contrasty.
In the background is a green tree which nicely complements the red colors of the leaf. At the same time, the contrast in brightness/luminosity around the borders of the leaf, make it stand out.
To produce the greatest colors, I positioned myself in the shadow. This prevents the sunlight from falling directly into the lens, where it would cause lens flares and decrease contrast.
